Point the Way

Mark 1:7 (AMPC): "And he preached, saying, After me comes He Who is stronger (more powerful and more valiant) than I..."

People had hope and an expectation that John the Baptist was going to be the Messiah who would free them from Roman oppression. But John knew this was not his purpose. He understood he was responsible to point the way to the real Messiah, Jesus Christ. He knew he wasn't able to fulfil the expectations of the world; so he pointed a lost and seeking generation to the One Who was more than willing and able to save them. As children of God, our responsibility is not to live for ourselves, but to hold out a living hope to our own generation. We carry the Spirit of the Saviour of the world within us. His power is a treasure we possess, and His supernatural love that is able to drive out all fear abounds in our hearts. By His Spirit we are fully equipped and able to point the way to Jesus, Who will bring deliverance from sin, and fullness of life to whoever receives Him. Know this to be your purpose and be the one to point the way to Jesus today.
