Grace That is Suffiecient

2 Corinthians 12:9 (AMPC): "But He said to me, My grace (My favour and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness..."

These are the words Paul spoke after he complained to the Lord about a problem that was stealing his peace and making his life miserable. The Lord didn't say He wasn't willing to take care of the problem, He was telling Paul He already had. The victory over the situation was taken care of at the cross. All Paul had to do was understand that his own strength and ability was not going to be enough to take care of it. The empowering grace of God that was residing in Paul, through the indwelling Presence of the Holy Spirit, was more than sufficient to deal with His aggravating situation. All he needed to do was call on that power, stand in his God-given authority and address the situation. When Paul did this, the Bible says he was overjoyed to know that the strength and power of Christ really was resting upon him - ready for him to call on any time he needed it. The Amplified Classic version says, "... that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!" In the times we feel exasperated and unable to deal with troubling situations in our own strength, the Lord has given us the same promise. His empowering grace resides in us - through His indwelling Presence and is more than sufficient to give us the strength we need to victoriously overcome whatever we are facing. You can call on that grace today.
