A Seal To Your Heart

Song of Songs 8:6 (NIV): “Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyielding as the grave. It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.”

The Bible speaks of God's love for us being intentional and passionate. When we accepted the redeeming love of Jesus, His Holy Spirit came to live on the inside of us. The Bible says He sanctified us and empowered us, and He faithfully remains with us, ready to help us whenever we need Him. He has become the seal of our redemption - a very sure and obvious sign to the devil that we have been rescued from eternal damnation and completely belong to God. We are His, through and through! That's how fierce His love is for us. Ephesians 4:30 warns us to be careful to not grieve the Holy Spirit, "... whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption." When we act like the world, talk like the world, behave like the world, and respond the same way the world does, we grieve the Holy Spirit. That means we cause Him to feel hurt and grief. Since He lives in us and goes wherever we go, when we deliberately do what we know is wrong, we drag Him right into that sin with us. That's why it's very important for us to realise how precious the Holy Spirit is to us, and give Him the honour He deserves. We must choose to pay careful attention to Him, following after His gentle leading and refusing even the appearance of evil in our lives. Proverbs 16:6-7 says, "By mercy and love, truth and fidelity [to God and man—not by sacrificial offerings], iniquity is purged out of the heart, and by the reverent, worshipful fear of the Lord men depart from and avoid evil. When a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him." Let the love of God and the precious fellowship of the Holy Spirit be the seal over your heart that causes you to walk in Devine blessing and favour, as you choose to live each day for Him.
