Mark 11:25 (AMPC), "And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him and let it drop (leave it, let it go), in order that your Father Who is in heaven may also forgive you your [own] failings and shortcomings and let them drop."
Did you know that forgiveness is a New Testament law. It's under the law of love, which Jesus said sums up all other laws. James calls it the law of liberty, which is exactly what it produces when we live by it. No matter who has wronged or offended us, in Christ Jesus we are obligated to release that offence and be free of its power to poison our hearts and hold us captive in a root of bitterness. If you think it's not possible to forgive, understand that firstly, it's not optional, and secondly, it's done by faith. We take God's Word and in His Name we say, "Father, in the Name of Jesus, I forgive this person/s. I declare they are forgiven and I hold nothing against them!"
Remember, this is what He does for you and I whenever we ask for forgiveness. You see when we come before the Lord to repent, it isn't the first He has heard about that sin, in fact He has already covered it with His blood. But at the point we release our sin to Him, we clear it out our lives and prevent it from having its fatal influence in us, because all sin leads to death. When we accept forgiveness by faith, we allow ourselves to walk clean and free from the bondage of sin. Unforgiveness is a terribly destructive sin. So once we forgive others, we say, "Thank you Lord, I have forgiven those who offended me. I choose to love them because you love them and I come into agreement with Your Word that says just as I am forgiven by You, they are forgiven by me. And I do this by Your grace and power that is inside of me. It's not by my might or by my power but by Your Spirit Who lives in me! What the devil has planed to use for my destruction, is turned around now for Your glory and my salvation!" This is how we live free, purposefully adhering to the perfect law of liberty!
