I Am Healed

In spite of what the Word says about us being able to receive healing for our bodies, there are Christians who believe the healing Jesus paid for was not for physical, but only spiritual and emotional needs. However, the Hebrew word for healed used in Isaiah 53:5, is raphah, meaning to properly mend as by stitching, or to cure as a physician and make thoroughly whole. Again in 1 Peter 2: 24 we read, "... By His wounds you have been healed." The Greek translation for the word healed here is iaomai, used throughout the New Testament where physical healing took place. It means to literally or figuratively cure, heal and make whole. The stripes Jesus received on the cross that ripped his physical flesh and drew His life blood, was most certainly for our physical healing. What's more, Jesus went to the cross and endured so much suffering so we could receive healing for every disease. Matthew 10:1 says, "And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal ALL kinds of sickness and ALL kinds of disease." The power of God to heal our physical bodies is real and available to all who believe. Sometimes the manifestation of our healing is immediate, other times we need to walk it through each day, believing and thanking the Lord for it, knowing that in the spiritual realm, it has already happened. The truth is, when we prayed and believed, we did receive our healing, now we must thank the Lord continually for its manifestation. You see, the phrase Isaiah used was "we are healed" and Peter wrote, "you have been healed". When we align our thoughts and hearts with the Word, believing our healing has already taken place, no matter what our physical symptoms tell us, faith is activated and God's Word produces exactly what it says in our lives. No more confessing, "...when God heals me," or "...one day I'll be healed.". Rather, let your words speak from the conviction of your heart that believes what God's Word says is true - "by His stripes, I am healed!".
