The Bible tells us in John 14:17, that we have been given the Spirit of Truth Whom we know and recognise, because He constantly lives with us and is in us. Then in the 16th chapter of John, verse 13-15, it tells us that the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. What an overwhelmingly, wonderful privilege, to be personally led by the Spirit of God. God is light and truth; and wisdom continuously flows from Him. We can receive that wisdom every day, and in every circumstance if we just choose to listen. Now, from the moment we were born again, we were given the ability to hear God's voice. He speaks to us in different ways: In dreams; through His written Word; some have heard Him through an audible voice; and most times, we hear Him in the quiet voice in our spirits, that sounds very much like a spontaneous thought. When it comes to the still, small voice the Holy Spirit speaks into our hearts, it's important to test what we hear against the written Word. If it is in agreement with God's Word and His nature, and it glorifies Jesus, we can be sure it's from God. You'll also find that spontaneous thought that rises up in your mind, will bring peace and joy to your soul. In fact, God's peace will flood your soul when you hear His voice, this a very good indicator of Him speaking to you. It's vitally important for every believer to deliberately spend time inquiring of the Lord. The more we practice hearing His voice by asking Him for His wisdom and letting His Spirit guide us in His Word, a the easier it becomes for us to recognise His voice, at any time, anywhere. Proverbs 3:6 tells us to know, recognise and acknowledge Him in all our ways, so that He will direct and make straight and plain our paths. Which means He will show us what to do in a way we can clearly understand and easily follow through. The Holy Spirit really wants to lead you, so decide to take the time to listen to His voice.
