The Mind of the Spirit

If you are busy seeking the will of God over a particular situation, or even the direction of your life, stop for a moment in your desperate search. Ask God sincerely for a complete change of your mind. Romans 8:6 says, "Now the mind of the flesh [which is sense and reason without the Holy Spirit] is death... But the mind of the [Holy] Spirit is life and [soul] peace [both now and forever]." Understand that the moment we became born-again, our spirits came alive in Christ Jesus. We became completely new creatures in Him, new in every way. Now, instead of our carnal minds ruling the way we live and determining the decisions we make, our re-born spirits should be dominating us. In other words, we can't just keep thinking and behaving the way we used to anymore. If we are wanting to walk led by the Spirit of God in this life, which is what is expected of us, it stands to reason that the way we think, must line up with the way of the Spirit. Romans 8:9 says, "But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [He directs and controls you]...". The way we perceive life, must be through the eyes and perspective of the Spirit, not the flesh. Since all scripture is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16), it must become our point of reference for all things in this life. That's why we must make every effort to spend time in the truth and wisdom of God's Word so that it renews our minds to think like the Spirit of God. And according to Romans 12:2, this is how we learn and know God's good and perfect and pleasing will for our lives.
