Go for Gold!

"Go for gold!" That's the motto of every athlete competing in the Olympic Games. They spend countless hours dedicating their time and effort into training and developing their skill. They are faithful to give their very best, all the time, so when the moment arrives, they are ready to deliver exactly what they were trained to do. With single minded purpose, they strive to seize the prize, never doubting victory. Since we were made in the image of God, and have His nature in us, we have an inherent desire and ability to prosper. We were born-again with a defining purpose - to push back the darkness in this world and advance the kingdom of God. We were made to be a blessing to the nations of the world. Just read Genesis 26:4, and Philippians 2:15-16 to see this. As children of God, we are wired for increase and success in all we do, to represent Him as we should. Someone once said that success is the deep satisfaction of striving for a worthy cause. Nobody deliberately wants to be a failure, not when we are driven by eternal purpose. The Apostle Paul often encouraged Timothy to fight the good fight of faith and in 2 Corinthians 5:9, he encouraged believers to be constantly ambitious and strive earnestly to be pleasing to God. What pleases God? Our faith! When we choose to believe God and what His Word says about our purpose in Him, we will constantly aim forward and upward, determined to reach that place where we have trained and increased our faith to take God at His Word. When we trust and obey God's will, His Spirit that is at work within us, accomplishes His perfect purpose in and through us! This is how we go for gold!
