Laying Down Past Hindrances

Sunday, 27 September 2026 | Reading taken from Ecclesiastes 5:1 (AMPC)

Ecclesiastes 5:1 (AMPC): "Keep your foot [give your mind to what you are doing] when you go [as Jacob to sacred Bethel] to the house of God. For to draw near to hear and obey is better than to give the sacrifice of fools [carelessly, irreverently] too ignorant to know that they are doing evil."

Do you remember the encounter Moses had with God at the burning bush in Exodus 3:5? The Lord explicitly told him to take off his sandals, because he was standing on holy ground. Shoes carry traces of our past and the experiences we've lived through. Sometimes our shoes give us a feeling of comfort and confidence too. When Moses removed his shoes, he was in a way putting aside the very things that represented his past and his false sense of identity. If he didn't remove the old mindset that kept him bound to his past, he would have never been able to embark on the miraculous journey with the God of the impossible. God wants us to not only walk with Him, but to fully live in Him. Whatever is bringing resistance to your "self-surrender that accepts the blessing", realise the Lord desires to consume all you are to move you into a supernatural relationship with Him, where the impossible becomes possible. Draw near to Him with no hesitation or limiting mindset from your past - so He can live in and through you, to display His glory - as He did with Moses.
