Religion in Christianity

John 10:10 (NKJV):"The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly."

Many people confuse Christianity with religion. While the Bible explains true religion as being a part of Christianity, it shows religion certainly doesn't define it. James 1:27 says pure religion is, "... to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." As Christians, we're instructed to help those in need, and live holy lives, but that's just a part of Christianity. Its essence is the miracle of God at work in man; it's divinity alive in humanity. It's a living relationship between God and man, through the Holy Spirit inhabiting the life of a believer. Understand, when you received Christ into your heart, it was a real life experience that will continue to change your life forever. As you allow God's character to be formed in you, He will live out His good purpose through you, and pure religion will be one aspect of your new life in Him.
