Make the Changes that Keep You Free

Hebrews 12:1 (NKJV): "Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us..."

Is there something you are tolerating in your life that keeps you from living in a way that pleases the Lord? When we know we're not pleasing Him, we typically aren't happy with ourselves either. This is a miserable way to live isn't it? That's why the Bible tells us to deliberately make permanent changes to things that keep weighing us down and tripping us up in our faith walk. They could be old habits or mindsets that go against the new life we have in Christ Jesus. Sometimes it's the environment we keep ourselves in. It could be an environment filled with unbelief, negativity, or sin and we've found ourselves being comfortable in it. It's time to remove ourselves from these places. Otherwise they'll just pull us down and hinder us from moving forward in righteousness and holiness before the Lord - weakening our faith to overcome. Lay aside these unnecessary weights and sin. Remember, you have the resurrection power of God living inside you. As you keep your heart filled with the Word, you can trust that power to strengthen you to make the choices you need to bring the change that keeps you free!
