Genesis 6:14 (NKJV): "Make yourself an ark of gopherwood; make rooms in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch."

The Bible says Noah walked in righteousness amidst the overwhelming wickedness and chaos in the world at the time. As a result, God told Noah He would destroy the world but save him and his family. He could have single-handily protected Noah and His family through any miraculous means, but as seen throughout scripture, He chose to partner with man in this endeavour instead. After the promise to save him, God gave Noah explicit instructions on how to build an ark. Although He was gracious towards Noah and his family, they were saved as a result of their careful obedience to His instructions. God is always full of grace and mercy towards us; but it is obedience - putting our faith into action - that leads us to experience the fullness of His covenant promises. Spend time in prayer and in the Word, tune your ear to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Learn to trust and obey His smallest instructions and He will always lead you to a full, victorious life - one obedient step at a time.
