Afraid of Receiving the Wrong Spirit?

Luke 11:13 (AMPC): “If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!”

God’s gift to the world is Jesus Christ; His gift to His church is being filled with His Holy Spirit. While Christians all over the world enjoy a powerful relationship with the Person of the Holy Spirit, some hold back in fear. They worry about receiving an evil spirit instead of the Holy Spirit. Jesus made it very clear this will never happen. In Luke 10:19 we’re told we have authority and power over serpents and scorpions (demonic spirits), and over all the power of the enemy, which will in no way harm us. Then in Luke 11:11-13, He uses this same analogy again, saying: if a son asks his father for a fish, he won’t receive a serpent; or if he asks for an egg, he won’t receive a scorpion. Just the same, if we ask our Heavenly Father for the Holy Spirit, He will not give us an evil spirit (referring to the serpent and scorpion); but instead, He will give us exactly what we have asked for - His Holy Spirit. If you are a born again child of God - you never have to be afraid of asking for a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit. Open your heart to Him and receive a mighty flow of His power today.
