Behind Closed Doors

Ephesians 4:22-23 (AMP): "...that, regarding your previous way of life, you put off your old self [completely discard your former nature], which is being corrupted through deceitful desires, and be continually renewed in the spirit of your mind [having a fresh, untarnished mental and spiritual attitude]."

Have you heard the saying: "Charity begins at home"? Statistics show that true mental and spiritual attitudes are put to the test and displayed right in our own homes. It is easy to put on a show, and guard our behaviour around other people, but behind closed doors and in the privacy of our own homes, our families see our most vulnerable moments. When we can reach the place where our attitudes and actions remain consistent and reflect the work the Holy Spirit is doing in our characters, our testimony holds ground. But it must happen at home first, where those who know us, and love us unconditionally, can attest to the sincere work God is doing inside us. When we yield to the Holy Spirit and live constantly aware of our attitudes and mannerisms, we train our flesh to submit to the Spirit. Getting it right at home first, is a perfect foundation for getting it right out in the world. And we'll have the credibility to back us up!
