Ephesians 2:8 (KJV): :For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:"
No matter how hard we try, no how much effort we put into doing good works, nothing will ever earn us the right to be saved. Jesus paid the ultimate price for our redemption on the cross. All we need to do to receive it is believe in Him and accept His forgiveness for our sin. It's by His grace alone that we are saved, through faith. Unlike other religions, Christianity is receiving the love of God; and based on our understanding of what He did for us, we allow it to transform us from the inside out. From this moment on, our appropriate response to the new life He has given us is to live in a way that is pleasing to Him. Since Jesus has made us righteous, we don't live right to gain His approval; rather we live as those who are approved. Don't allow the devil to deceive you into making you feel less worthy than the finished work of the cross has already made you to be. Rather, allow the truth of who you are in Him to renew your mind so you can live as the redeemed.
