The unknown is the most unnerving and unsettling concept for most people. They want to know what the future holds so they can plan and be prepare for it. To not be in control of your own future or destiny incites so much fear because of the uncertainty of it all. So, to calm nerves and settle fears, they invest as much as possible into contracts with institutions that promise to give them the security they so desperately seek. The problem is, those institutions are just as vulnerable to this natural world and its systems as the individual people are. All it takes is one economic collapse or natural disaster to topple them, leaving the people who placed their trust in them, more destitute than before. That's why the Word teaches us in 1 Timothy 6:17, "... to not place our trust in uncertain riches, but on God, Who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for [our] enjoyment." God may not reveal every detail of our future to us, but He certainly teaches us in His Word how to prepare for it and overcome any curve balls that come our way. 1 John 5:4 says, "For whatever is born of God is victorious over the world; and this is the victory that conquers the world, even our faith." Faith in God and His irrefutable Word is what compels us to obey His principles, which is all we need to have a future that is be completely secure and established. 1 Peter 5:10 says after we have chosen to overcome the temptation or struggle to fear, by placing our trust in Him, "...the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favour], ...will Himself complete and make (us) what (we) ought to be, establish and ground (us) securely, and strengthen, and settle (us)." So banish worry from your life and enjoy the present, knowing that it's your faith and obedience that continues to secure your future in God's almighty hand.
