The Lord is Good!

Not just Christians experience the hand of God being good to them. Matthew 5:45 and Psalm 145:9 give testimony to this. The truth is, anyone who comes into contact with the presence of God will see and know that He is good. In His presence lives are transformed, the sick are healed, destructive habits are conquered, and broken relationships are restored. Psalms 16:11 tells us that God will show us the path of life, and that in His presence is fullness of joy. It also says that at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore. All over the world, since the beginning of time, people have experienced the guidance of God in every area of their lives and enjoyed His undeserved favor. I particularly love how Psalms 65:11 says God crowns the year with His bounty and goodness! Now, in John 10:14, Jesus declares, "I am the Good Shepherd; and I know and recognise My own, and My own know and recognise Me...". Two important truths stand out in this verse. Firstly, that Jesus is good, and secondly, we recognise and know Him by His goodness! When we really believe that the Lord is good, we can face every thought or situation, fully confident that it's His desire to be good to us, and that He is willing and able to take care of us. Doesn't this remind you of Romans 8:31&32? "What then shall we say to [all] this? If God is for us, who [can be] against us? [Who can be our foe, if God is on our side?] He who did not withhold or spare [even] His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not also with Him freely and graciously give us all [other] things?" AMPC. Take God at His Word today, believe and see that He is good. That way you can expect Psalm 28:6-7 to become your reality. He does hear your prayers and He is your strength and protection. You can trust Him to fill your heart with joy as it overflows with thanksgiving, because He is good to you!
