Envy and jealousy spring from deep seated insecurity and fear. When not dealt with, these emotions stir up a need for self preservation when we think we've been unfairly deprived of something. These thoughts war and burn inside relentlessly, fueling emotions with hot hatred until they distort every truth and finally boil over with uncontrollable, outbursts of fury. Solomon wrote, "...jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame." (Song of Solomon 8:6). Cain's jealousy led to murdering his own brother, Saul's jealousy turned him into a dangerous mad man, bent on killing David. The only way to be free from these destructive forces, is to have our minds renewed to how much God loves us, and is for us. If you are battling with hurt or insecurity, because you feel you have been unfairly treated, stop this destructive course by meditating on this truth: "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name [has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love, and kindness - trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will never forsake him, no, never]. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation." (Psalm 91:14-16). Yield entirely to the Holy Spirit, give Him your fears and let His promises wash over you, cleansing and healing your soul.
