Earnest Expectation

To magnify something, is to have its image enlarged and increased in size. And when we magnify the Lord in worship, it means we lift Him high and make Him the chief object of our praise. Paul's earnest desire was to see the character of Christ magnified in his life.In fact, he said he had an earnest expectation, that unashamedly and with all boldness, others would see Jesus in him, far more than they would his own nature. Paul was in love with His Saviour. He was absolutely overcome with adoration for Who Jesus was. He was convinced, there was nothing more noble or worthwhile than truly knowing Christ. This was probably because of the effect knowing God had on his life. It made him into a completely different man than he was on his own. Personally knowing Jesus, made Paul into someone he was no longer ashamed of, he was at peace and fully satisfied with the hope he found in Jesus. Jesus added such value to Paul's life that nothing else mattered more to him than having Christ magnified in his body, in life or death. Can you imagine knowing God that way, with that same depth and passion? If Paul, a man who once murdered Christians for his career, could experience Jesus in this way, the only thing holding us back is our reluctance to press in to Him. Don't wait any longer, you can know Him, as Paul did, when you seek to know Him with your whole heart.
